Frequently Asked Questions

 Tips & Suggestions

Parking:
We do have a parking lot but it can be a bit of a nightmare. It is long and skinny with one entrance. We STRONGLY recommend you try to avoid it! There is a city lot just west of us. It is free during the off-season and $5-10 otherwise. If you bring the little tear-off from the receipt, we will take $5 off your bill (like a coupon). You can also park on the bluff and walk down. Seriously, you want to avoid our lot on busy days… We warned you!

Download the NOWAIT App:
This app is very helpful on busy days. You can put your name on our wait list right through your phone and you receive a text when your table is available. Please note if you need a wheelchair accessible table. Also, you must be within 15 miles of SBP to use the Nowait app.

Takeout:
If there is a long wait (they can get up to 3 hours) we suggest you consider getting a takeout and enjoying it outside if the weather is nice.

Strollers:
We have a lock up area for your stroller. In most cases we do not have room in the restaurant for your stroller.

Babies Count:
Please include your baby in your party count. We cannot put high chairs at some of our tables so this will help us get the correct table for your group.

Plan Ahead:
On busy days get your name on the wait list and go enjoy the beach area. Go over to the carousel, stroll the downtown, take a walk down the pier. We will page you when your table is ready.

Large Parties:
As a general rule of thumb, the larger the party, the longer the wait. Please be prepared for this. Extremely large parties (over 12) may not be sat together or at the same time. Consider this when planning your visit. We are sorry for any inconvenience!

Rehearsal Dinners, Reunions, or other Large Party Events:
Unfortunately, in most instances, we are not available for rental or reservation for rehearsal dinners, reunions, award banquets, etc.

We are truly sorry. We were faced with the dilemma of attempting to carve out suitable space for parties and still provide a high-level of service to our regular diners. We discovered we could not do both. Again, we are sorry and we hope you understand.

Dairy Allergies - There is Parmesan cheese in our regular pizza sauce. Other sauce options include Marinara, BBQ, Frank's Red Hot, or Olive Oil.

Nut Allergies - The only nut product in the building is walnuts, which are contained to a small area. This should not be a threat to anyone who is allergic.

Note: Our fried foods are fried in Canola oil, not peanut oil or soybean oil.

Yes and no. The lower level of the restaurant does not take reservations and goes on a wait list when busy. We utilize a texting service when your table is ready which makes it convenient to explore the surrounding area while you wait. The upper deck does take reservations and also has open bar and lounge seating. Reservations are made online only through our website. Please note that the upper deck is 21 and over only. Reservations can be made up to two weeks out.

Yes, we are an unattended Amtrak stop, with two trains a day. One leaves for Chicago at about 930 am and returns at about 810 pm. There is an Amtrak room with a self service kiosk to buy tickets.

August 5, 2005.
Sorry! We do not. We carry delicious chocolate martinis though (and you have to be 21 or older to buy!)
Schooners can be purchased at SBP. Please ask your bartender or server if you would like to buy one.
Yes, check out our menu. We also offer a non dairy cheese and a completely cheese-less pizza (David's pizza). Our gluten-free products come from Mybread bakery in Chicago, IL. The gluten-free pizza crusts are also vegan. Our gluten-free options include small pizza crusts, large pizza crusts, pita bread, baguette bread and penne pasta. The pita can be used for the spinach dip appetizer, hummus, or as a substitute for garlic bread. The baguette bread can be used for garlic bread, cheesy garlic bread, Greek bruschetta, spinach dip, or as mini sandwiches. The gluten-free pasta takes a little longer to cook due to having to cook it fresh.
We have several tables which can handle up to 14 people. Parties larger than 14 might not be seated together or at the same time. We will do the best we can of course, but please keep this in mind when planning a large group.
No, but we do offer carry-out service.
We offer Coke products.
We make our dough fresh, every day from scratch.
Probably a tie between the Carousel and the Garlic Greek.
Yes during the summer we sell slices from our take-out kitchen, as well as bottled water. There is a Coke machine outside the take-out kitchen.
During times when the restaurant is near full we usually place strollers in a special area with locks as they can create a safety issue for other patrons… So we actually have valet parking for strollers!
About 13 feet. Its pretty cool when you’re eating outside and a train goes by.
